Guatemala!
Hi everyone reading our exciting daily updates. :-)
We made it safe and sound to Guatemala and there is even internet in our lobby (although not an English keyboard so this will probably be brief). We are still hoping to be able to upload more photos soon but have not come across another internet access that lets us yet.
It is much cooler today and we are staying in Flores which is a tiny little island on a lake.
Yesterday we went with another couple staying at our lodge into the San Ignacio Saturday market which is the largest market in Belize. It was very small compared to the Portland Saturday market but it was very busy. Most local people come to this each week to buy their fruit and vegetables for the week. Then we wandered around San Ignacio for awhile, went out to the Cahal Pech ruins again for a little bit, ate some lunch, then took a tour of the Green Iguana exhibit. The baby iguanas were so cute I wanted to bring one home until I heard they get to be 6 feet long!
Most surprising thing we saw yesterday: an elephant walking unleashed down the street to take a drink in the Macal River (this made a lot more sense when we saw the circus tents). We would have taken a picture but we were so in shock.
Coolest birds we saw yesterday: 2 parrots out near the dining area at the lodge and 2 toucans near Cahal Pech.
Dumbest thing we did yesterday: walk a quarter mile down to the river behind our lodge - it really did sound like a good idea for the first few minutes but the hike back up in the 98 degree humid heat of the afternoon about did us in!
Thing I am most happy about today: how much Spanish Roger knows!!! As soon as we crossed into Guatemala everything changed immediately.
Tomorrow: Tikal!! We are so excited!

You guys are quite the adventurers! Don't get too many bug bites before the wedding... although it would make for some interesting photos. Guatemala... I could have SWORN that Roger has been there before!
Keep up the posts! I enjoy living vicariously through you while studying anatomy.
Sounds like you two are having fun! You definitely have your days packed. Make sure to relax a bit too! We are finally moved. Yes, I started a fire the first night in the house -- and not in the fire place. Did you know that garbage disposals have motors and wires inside that can catch on fire? But the water sprayer on the sink works to put it out!
Sounds like a Guatemalan garbage disposal!
Hi guys!
I've decided that I have no life, for I constantly am "hopping on" the computer hoping for a new update! Seriously though, I love reading your updates and as Darcy said, "I enjoy living vicarously through you". (lucky for me, minus the anatomy class!
Gary is ready to go...me on the other hand, I'm ready for Hawaii. I know, I'm a princess at heart!
I am looking soooooo forward to your return to hear about your adventures and to see all of your pics!
Counting down here; #1-only one more day until taxes are due! Unfortunately Uncle Sam is going to love us again this year! #2-only four more days until you become Mr. and Mrs. Anderson! And Uncle Sam will love you too!
It's dinner time here, so it's off to the kitchen I go. Chicken for Denbigh...Lean Cuisine for us! Something is wrong here!
Enjoy your days!
K
The prior post was from me! No wonder Beth and I work so perfectly together!
